Alpine CDA-9887 vs Eclipse CD5030

I'm about to buy a new head unit and just looking for some feedback. I am most concerned about sound quality. All pre-outs will be used. Is there an audible difference between 4 volt and 5 volt pre-outs? Not really concerned about the bluetooth option, but ipod connectivity is a must. Anyone have any dealings on either of these? I listen to mostly alternative rock/idie music.

I've owned many eclipse decks but only one alpine (9886) and I prefer eclipse decks. To me processing and sq are higher on eclipse decks. Might be the reason why my 9886 is up for sale so I can get a 5030...

I'm hoping to find someone who might be able to repair this head unit. The faceplate doesn't slide out at all.
