alpine cda-9885 problem

hi, I wired and installed an alpine cda-9885 in my 03 Monte Carlo, the unit powers on and plays the radio perfectly, however, the ipod and CD player doesn't play any sound: its strange. I will put a CD in and it will show that it is playing, (track number and time...), yet, there is no sound coming through the speakers. I reset the unit and did everything the installation told me to do, and I am wondering what the problem may be, any insight? Thanks, Luke.

The car has a factory amplifier installed, you didnt hook up the blue w/ white wire on the radio harness to the blue wire on the factory wire harness. You connected the blue power antenna wire to the blue wire. Thats why it only works when the radio is on.

yes and you can run multiple amps off one remote wire, it just basically tells the amp when it needs to turn on by giving it a 12v signal. It dosent actually power the amp just tells it that it should be on when the HU is on.

okay, so, blue-white radio to blue factory, blue radio is useless, appreciate it!
EIA standards are:

blue/white = power amp remote. (provides signal for all sources.

blue= power ant remote (provides signal for radio only)

Now not every radio or car will follow that format...some adaptor harnesses/cars only have the blue wire (amplified cars ie GM cars) or power antenna connection.
