Anybody have any experience with this one? I just sold my IVA-D310 since the truck isn't gonna get driven enough to justify having a tv so i am looking for something with a nice ipod GUI and nice SQ.

This looks like an updated 9835 so it seems promising. I had the 9855 and didn't care for the glide strip.

The 9857 isn't even close to the 9835. For around the same price get a Pioneer p880 with the cdib100ii and you'll be leagues beyond the alpine.

i was pretty disappointed to see that the 9857 did not have a motorized face. I mean come on, its alpine. you gotta have the motorized face especially since its their top of the line cd player. also i'm not sure if this HU has a 3 way xover. and it seems to have downgraded to 2v preout.

i picked up a 9857 today and dropped it in. It seems to be ok but i haven't messed with it that much. I am gonna read the manual and see what all i can come up with. as long as i can set a playlist easily then i'll be fine. the ipod is all arranged and its hard for those pro 60's not to sound good

The 9857 does not have a motorized face? And I know for a fact it doesnt have X-overs either...it has a smaller display and less features overall than the last two years of head units.....the only thing it appears to have over the last two top of the line's is the "high speed" Ipod connection...wtf is Alpine thinking?

thats the main thing i want. The only thing i listen to is my ipod so if i can get a fast GUI then it'll work for me.

it doesnt have a motorized face because people were sending them back with problems...like the motor quit working and the face plate got stuck....thats what my local shop told me....i am going to get the 9857 tho but i am looking for one with a motorized faceplate

on the 9856 and 9857 the ipod sucks?...its the easiest thing to work and its superfast with great sound quality..its the best ipod adaptor ever
