Alpine CDA-9815- Do I need 10ga wiring?

Im installing this head unit soon and I see alot of people have installed these w/ 10ga amp kits just for the HU. Since Im not going to be using the Alpine's built in power, do I need to do this? I have an enherient dilemma doing this as my amp is located in the back of the car. Thanks for the help!

I have a 9813 and it works just fine using the factory wiring (other than the ground).

are most cars ground wires alright or do you have to make your own whenever you install an aftermarket h/u?

It's always better with the ground to go with a known quantity. You don't know how good the factory ground is and I can promise that it isn't to bare metal. If you run the ground yourself, you know how good it is.
