yea I scooped it to hold me over until my broke ass can afford another DRZ, I figured it was decent for the price.

I didn't realize it only has a 24 dB/oct. slope. I guess that's right before Bass Engine Pro included 6, 12, and 18 dB/oct. slopes in the next year's model. The 7998 was I guess the direct replacement for this one (according to soniceletcronix). It does look like a pretty badass HU though. I'd say it was definitely a good find and a great price.

There was a user here a few years ago who swore that was the best sounding Alpine hu ever made. Along with his words on how this sounded awesome, he mentioned that it was very fast to load MP3s, which is something that always bothered me on the pre-2006 line alpages.

This unit was known for a overheat problem and some occasional mechanical issue thou. Albeit, for the price you're getting it, i'd go for it till it bites the dust

Please make a review on it once you lay your hands on it. I've been looking for more reviews of it.
