What Alpine amp would push 1 Type X sub? I'm still not understanding how the ohm system works. If it's 1000 rms x 1 at 2 ohms would this work with the type x which is dual coil and 4 ohms. Max rms is 1000 watts. I want to match an alpine amp with this sub. I like the vids i see with this sub.

A type X might be better for you anyway, They are much more SQ oriented than an R and will excel in a sealed box. I would completely get rid of the rear stage and run a quality set of comps up front with 80-125rms to the, set this will help alot with proper imaging. There are a ton of members in florida also who could help you do the install and would most likely not even charge you a fifth of what bestbuy will, Also by helping them with your install you will a lot about car audio. For the power I would also scrap the idea of the alpine sub amp. You can find 1000rms in the classifieds here for much less money.

If it says 1000 rms x 1 at 2 ohms but the sub is 4 ohms (with max rms of 1000) doesn't that make it incompatible?

Wouldn't the amp have to say something like 1000rms X 1 at 4 ohms???

Dude, the Type X sub you're looking at is 4 ohm dvc, which means it can be wired to either 2 or 8 ohms. That means you'll need 1,000 watts rms @ 2 or 8 ohms for that particular subwoofer. This is the type of thing you'll learn about once you start doing some actual research...

Never used DB Drive and haven't used any PG stuff in a long time. PG has changed ownership since the last time I used any of their products and I have no idea if the new stuff is good or not.

If I were you, I'd do a hell of a lot more reading and window shopping before buying anything...

That is the plan! So far with the information I've been given I think I'm a lot further then I was... saving myself some money too. Glad I was steered away from cruthfield, now i'm able to upgrade a bit with the money i'm saving.

First off learn to install this yourself, it's not hard, just read and don't be afraid to ask, yeah some will be like "gtfo newb" but remember that they're bored and that they were in exact same position as you are right now, everyone has to learn at some point, so just dissmis their comments and move on.

Now Type R speakers I heard in BB and I gotta say they sound like shit, I'm amateur when it comes to audio but thank god I listened to them....not my cup of tea. Shop around, check out classifieds, ebay, sonicelectronics, woofersetc and so on.
