Alpine 9887 skips on all songs with alot of bass

you're stupid. What's wrong with it skipping on heavy bass? That means that where it is mounting might be rattling. Doesn't that make sense to you?

i have never had problems with skipping on either of my previous head units. This is new to me.

then it must be a flaw in it.cause i could make my old 9825 skip on clean cd's,since i changed hu's and upgraded to more watts,which is alot louder,i dont have that problem anymore.

what were your previous headunit? This could be a problem, though not very likely. If your new headunit has a higher preout voltage than your old one and you swap headunit without re-tuning your amps then it could be producing more power than before. Thus the car rattles more from the improved output.

well, i'm gonna do whatever i can to try to figure out the problem before taking it back first. I adjusted the amp gains and it still skips. So your saying that my amp gains could be to high? If that is a possible problem, then i will try setting them a little lower

honestly that is a stab in the dark. Most likely there is either a headunit defect or it's not secured tight enough

how can i secure it though, i'm not sure i'm understanding this. Also, is there some kind of anti-skip thing on there anywhere? I just went for a drive and it skips everything, i had to turn it off actually because it was getting on my nerves, lol

i'd say its not mounted securely. when i had my 9887, it would never skip, and i'm a lot louder than you. once i went to the 880prs though, even when i just had 1 18, it wouldnt play a cd, i had to get a cd changer for cd duty, and mostly use my ipod for bumping.

Sounds like its a problem in the unit itself if it skips even when you tap on it. Otherwise id say add a backstrap and some supporting foam or something. 1 : Go buy one from local store

2 : Install in vehicle

3 : Put skippy one in box, return as if never opened
