I run my Alpine 9887 at 16-20 for just cruising around. down to 12 if im talking to people in the vehicle. 20-25 if I am getting into the music. and 25-30 for well recorded/encoded songs that I really want to see what my system can do. Thought I have never had any clipping from my HU even up to 35... but my PDX150.1 will clip there even if the gains are set to min.
I typically set gains around 28-30 with sub level between 7-10 so that I have room to adjust the subs based on the song.
