Im really lookin at getting this deck. Its one of kenwoods upper level decks (single din) and has everything the Alpine 9886 does. I can get it for less than 200 shipped brand new. Can anyone tell me of the new kenwood excelon builds and reviews about their cd players. Or any other decks in this price range. Thanks

I have not heard that paticular deck, but I can tell you that Excelon's are outstandind decks. I have the X-990 and it has been a jewel. Just fantastic. For what you are paying for the X-792, I don't see how you could go wrong!

I have an x890 and I love it. I actually was thinking about switching to an Alpine 9886, but decided that the Kenwood had better features. The USB control is my favorite.

Thanks for the responses guys. Keep getting told to go Alpine or pioneer. Dont have enough money for the alpine and my pioneer a couple years ago had that ground problem, and everyone has them. Store in my area used to always carry excelon and loved them but they were confusing so noone bought them, so I was told.

im thinking of going with a kenwood or a clarion next too, i have a pioneer now and i just want something different for the other car.

I really like the look and stuff of the alpines, but the ones with the features are so much money and then you have to buy a 130 dollar part for USB and a hundred dollar thing for this and that, its ridiculous.

It seems like other companies like kenwood and clarion have all that crap built in for a lesser price and are still awesome in quality, just aren't as famous.

i got the kenwood x991 with usb. cant go wrong with kenwood they are the best ive ever used. sound is outstanding and eq settings are the best.

I also have the 991...no complaints whatsoever and it works great with a small 40gb hard drive I have.

7 series has custom graphics like pimpin's custom Sundown one, adds RDS support, color graphics, i think a few more things cant remember

I got the x590 and . great unit. I now run the X890 and love it. lots of features, easy to use, After you set it up. great SQ. I would get another next time. No complaints.

However the screen on the X590 just up and died, Got it replaced on warranty, but then sold it as it seemed to be a common problem with the x590. I suggest the x800's or X900 lines.

Do a quick search on "kenwood (what ever model your thinking of) display problems" and see if its an issue.

Just bought an el cheapo x-492 and their lower lines have as many features as other brands out there for a much higher price. Also like the front inputs for iPod and Aux.
