Alpine 9887 CD and Ipod volume difference?

Is there any?

Like say I put in a 1khz tone on a cd in my 9887 and set my gains according to that, and say my listening volume was 24/35 when the gains were set, well on iPod it seems that there is a slight volume difference of sorts.. how do I know what volume to listen to it on iPod, I want to be pretty much exact as far as equal volumes goes...

And what tone do I use to set gains for tweeters since I'm running active?

I havent noticed any volume difference between the Ipod (5g) on my 9887 then when using CD. I have done quite a bit of comparison with pressed cd's and ripped mp3's from that cd on the ipod and can not hear any difference what so ever in the car enviroment.

However there is more noise (press puase and turn the volume all the way up) on the ipod vs cd. I think it has to do with the charging circuit or the HD in the ipod. I doubt it will make any difference though (unless you turn your stereo up to your max volume often, then it might)

Ok, the reason I asked is on my iPod I used a 1khz tone to set gain and it came out to having the volume at 30/35 and when I used a 1khz tone on cd it came out to having the volume right at 24/35.. and what tone for tweets?

Use the same tone with the tweeters at least thats what I have always done.
what tweeters do you run that will play a 1k tone [without x-over before that point] ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Hmm make sure no normalizing or anything is being added to the file when burning it and that your ipod EQ is off.

a bit off topic but, im not sure how different the 9887 is compared to the 9847, but i think the hu starts to clip after volume 19-20, ive never played beyond 22 just something to think about.

pretty sure roe has tones you an make a test tone cd out of.

thats the difference. yours has 4 volt preouts. but still, i would never run a signal source at full volume ever.

whaaa???

go to downloads, then go to where it says test tones by jmac. they have 5-20k! than a variety of warbles, sweeps and other bass songs. you can even email them for whatever you need, they will make it for you.
