alpine 9886 problems/issues/not responding

bought a 9886 late last year. last month it started acting up.

Sometimes it takes 2 to 3 button presses for it to change (ethier band, or preset). Sometimes when I push a button the screen goes blank.

a few times it just locked up and the screen went all crazy.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

I sometimes get the problem where it will just go black, and i have to push buttons to get it the screen to come back on.

Also it will occasionally freeze, and the only way to get it to work again, is to turn off the car.

also if i ever was to buy a new deck, def not getting an Alpine. Slogan should be, "Everything is an add-on"

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the HU where the removable face plugs in?

^i'll try that. Because the fix generally seems to be: take face plate off, and put back on.

its annoying. I got it because of imprint, which in my car with stock speakers did WONDERS for sound.

but very dissaponted, because i've had pioneer units before that even with their motorized faceplates lasted way longer.
