Alpine 9884 Ipod control?

I just installed the 9884 in my car and I noticed that when I turn off the key and exit the car the Ipod is still playing... not thru the radio but the song is still advancing. If I run into the store and come back 5 min later it will be 1 to 2 songs ahead. Now if I pause the ipod on the HU before killing the car it will resume play as long as it does not time out and turn itself off. If it does turn itself off when I start the car it will play the first song on the Ipod. Is this the norm? I thought when I remove the key it should pause...then no matter how lomg it was off I had hoped it would resume where it left off. Any help would be great. Thanks!!
