Alpine @ 8 ohms

I have an Alpine MRV-T757 that I'm going to use to power two 4 ohm, 12" Alpine subs. The amp is rated as fiollows, at 14.4 volts:

two channels at 4 ohms = 100 watts per channel;

two channels at 2 ohms= 200 watts per channel;

bridged at 4 ohms = 400 watts.

Now, what I'm going to do is wire in series (8 ohms) and bridge. What power do you think the amp will produce? 400 watts?

You're still getting 400 watts regardless. Wired parallel 200 x 2 @ 2 ohm vs. wired series (bridged) 400 x 1 @ 4 ohm. It's still 400 watts. Just wire the subs parallel to both channels.

8ohms bridged would be the same total power as 2 x 4ohms (100w x 2), so 200w.

The guy at Alpine says by doing it that way I'm back to 100 watts per sub, which I'm not sure I believe. He says it's way too little for the subs, which are Alpine SWE 1243s rated at 100 -250 watts. He made me go out and order a M500.1, which is made for those subs and which I did order just now from Crutchfield for $179.00. So, thanks alot.
