Alpine 7995 vs 7894

The only difference I see in them is: 1) Color scheme 2) 7995 has no amplifier (from what I read on Alpine's site).

Now, why would the 7995 be $100 more (msrp), and have LESS features than the 7894? Is there an advantage to not having a built in amp? I know speakers sounds better with a seperate amp, but unless there's a good reason to get the 7995 over the 7984, I'd rather put off purchasing an amp for a few months. Thanks for the help!

Also, what's the difference beteen the 7894's "V-Drive" amp and other HU's "MOSFET" amp? What exactly does mosfet mean anyway? Alpine says the v-drive is "exclusive" but I know mosfet is on other HU's (like my current pioneer for example).

lol, that's a good question. well, i don't see any difference other than what you already stated, different color scheme and no amp in the 7995.

Children children children... you must look beyond the obvious visual differences. The 7995's lack of a built-in amp allowed them to give it a premium-quality power supply and output capacitors ensure pristine sound quality.

im planning on getting the 7995 for about 370$, not bad. also this deck needs only about 5 amps from your battery, where normal decks use 15, and the 7894 uses 25, or so im told. this deck does not heat up like normal ones do, and ive heard stories of the 7894 burning up because you didnt replace the power wire since it draws so many more amps than a normal deck.

mostly its just good sq with more features and things.

i would have bought that one, but i new i wouldn't have enough money to buy a separate 4 channel amp, and since the 7893 was on sale at my local car audio place, i just decided to get it since i really needed a new h/u.
