It was released in 1994. I used to have the model below this one that had a built in amp. This on doesnt have an amp on board. I have a 9835 now, but I think this deck might be a good addition to my daily driver.

Its pretty close to that, maybe 95. I got my license in 96 and bought one a 7982 that was identical to it and I think there was another one between the model I had and that model.

Use to have one of these and loved it until it strated acting up.

The alignment for swapping the disc's has to be very precise and mine eventually went out of alignment. It refused to access the third disc in the cartridge no matter which cartridge I used. It really broke my heart when that happened. Not only did it stop accessing the third disc, but it also managed to scratch a few when it tried.

If the "Z" mechanism still performs, go for it with the knowledge that it might fail eventually.

Yeah the one I had quite playing disks about 3 years after I got it. Thats the only reason I got rid of it. It was a nice deck.
