Alpine 3553 Install...ME = N00b

SOoo i just aquired a ALpine 4 channel 3553 amp from somewhere, and I am gonna hook it up to my SPEAKERS. I Have no Idea on how to do this...it looks like it wants 4 RCA plugs, but my headunit only has one set of Preouts. Do i use the 4 channels and split the RCA's then use the 4 seperate channels for my speakers? or do i just use it as a 2 channel amp and connect both left speakers to a POT and the Rights to a POT? Help! I have never installed an amp before
