Alpine 12in Type R...

Is it bad to power a 4ohm sub at 2ohms??? I have heard good things about the jbl 300.1 amp.... but it is 300RMS @ 2ohms and only 150 @ 4ohms. Is this amp a good idea or should I find a new one? ? ?

Do you have the DVC 4 ohm model? In that case, you wire them in parallel for a 2 ohm load anyway...

If its Dual Voice Coil... (Two sets of red and black connections on opposite sides of the subs) then wire both reds together and both blacks together. After that, run another wire from one of the blacks to your amp, and a wire from the opposite side red to the amp and you have a 2 ohm load. At least your first post wasnt something like "I want the loudest sub on earth, where can I buy it?"

The model of the sub is SWR-1241D... and yes it is a dual voice coil. So the 4 ohm deal is no prob... wired them like u said for 2 ohms. Now what do u guys think about the jbl 300.1? Good Idea?? I think that it is a good amp. Also look at this one which is good for the money as well, just got one for the little lady. If you plan on getting an additional sub in the future you might look at a bigger amp and one that could run at 1 ohm.

Alright, i looked at the at alpin amp 350RMS...

I found it for about $150 shipped... Looks good to me.

The sub I have is 1000Watt max 300RMS... what do u think i should get??? Is there any other features I should look besides Wattage??

It'll be fine but the Alpine type-r's like more then just 300 watts...Go for like 400rms they will scream I love you

I've got the same ones and throw ~600 daily to them and yes they scream I love you.

my infinity's recommend 350rms and i give them 500. they could easily take another 100 watts, almost double the recommended rms wattage

Thats what I like to hear! So u are saying 400RMS wouldnt be a problem. Another question does the type of box im using have an effect on the power i should use?? It is in a Qlogic 1.25 cubic ft box. Im going to look 4 a better amp now?
