alphasonik voltage help

anybody ever take the plug in digital voltmeter and hard wire it to work without the amp???i had an amp hooked up until somebody stole it but left the voltmeter..its a telephone jack hook up but it has 4 wires that would ned to be hooked up when jack is removed..now i tried to do this once and the **** thing fried so i have a new one but i dont want to screw this one up..its mounted in my dash and just going to waste thats the only reason why im tryinh to hook it up

i have a alpha amp but it for some reason didnt come with the volt meter i would love to have ne if u wanna sell it lemme know lol
