The JL 500/1 has that RIPS regulated output power supply that all "/' series amps have. When it was tested by Brian Smith at Car Sound mag a few years back I believe that it benched at 730 something watts when it was shown a two ohm load. Just Google it and you will come up with the review.i dont know shit when it comes to wiring and impendance. still confused but learning, my bad
300 bucks for a 500w amp on Ebay is far from a hell of a deal........//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gifi just got this off of ebay for $300. hell of a deal, anyways. i was hooking up all the wires and wasnt paying attention to what i was doing and put the ground wire into the battery wire. talk about scared sh!tless. there was sparks and smoke coming out of the connector. i thought i blew it up or something. come to find out i just blew the fuse by my battery. anyways... i got everything wired CORRECTLY this time and my w3's sound great. i have them in a 3/4 custom made box. i cant tell the difference between this amp(500/1) and the memphis16-st1000d amp i had. they sound pretty close to the same in power. why is that?????
They do.weird...i'd expect those amps to have a decent protection circuitry for reverse voltage-should've just blown the fuses unscathed..
If you left the battery connected then you did not know what you were doing.know i knew what i was doing. i just wasnt paying attention to which wire i had. cuz the place that installed my first system put the same gauge and color for the ground and battery wire.
Amps don't really sound different unless you have really good ears. Some amps produce cleaner power, but most people cannot tell the difference between two amps with the same power ratings. It is especially difficult to tell the difference when the amp is powering speakers that only produce bass.i cant tell the difference between this amp(500/1) and the memphis16-st1000d amp i had. they sound pretty close to the same in power. why is that?????
x2. Speakers produce the biggest change and/or equalizers.Amps don't really sound different unless you have really good ears.
