The SSF cuts the inaudible frequencys out of your music, but I don't use mine with a sealed enclosure because it doesn't play down too low anyway.

You will have to experiment with the LP x-over. Set it to 80 hz and then work your way down. I use a subwoofer to support the low frequencies that my soundstage cannot....there is no boom-tiss, boom-tiss in my car. Therefore I am for bass up front and I don't want to hear my sub in the hatch - this takes a lot of practice and tuning;)

What HU do you have? THe advantage to using the HU's LP x-over is the ability to change it at your finger tips. The dissadvantage is that you cannot fine tune the frequency as most decks are set in incriments like 63,80,100,125 etc.

i own a sony headunit, i am not sure what settings the unit has, but using the subsonic filter in a sealed enclosure will not hurt anything, right.

No. It wont hurt anything. Think about it:

sub = below

sonic = hearing

filter = remove

It will remove very low sounds from your music. Typically SSF's are fixed around 20-25 hz, but on some amps they are adjustable....I don't know what yours is like. Try it either way and see what makes you happy. I don't have mine on because eventhough you can barley hear 25 hz you can still fell it....kind of //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
