All Alpine System

Nobody has mentioned it yet, and since I was just leafing throught the alpine product catalogue, I thought I would mention that the alpine 9835 has the "amplifier link" thing. That means that you plug your amp into the head unit (obviously) and you can then control everything directly from the HU, like gain, bass boost, etc. Also, you can monitor the temperature of the amp and the voltage across it. I think thats pretty good motivation to stick with an alpine amp right there. (Even though its just a huge gimic, but a cool one none the less) (And they're purrrty)

Personally, I prefer running identical speakers in all four corners (or six). I just like having the exact same sound eminating from everywhere. I think it makes for a better sound stage. I was running different speakers in my car; I couldn't handle it, I had to change them to make then all identical.

a little more expensive than other things out there for the same wattage, and they don't have offerings in the higher power ranges (1.5kW+), but for a mid to high power amp with a lot of features, they're good...

I think for show purposes it would be a great idea and will surely sell the product used. And also I think its a good idea as long as your not after the best bang for the buck as everyone already said. I really have no experience with alpine although i do plan on upgrading to one of their hu's in the future. Good luck man!

the alpine headunit is the best product from alpine imo. dont be all concerned about 1 brand. my friend has all audiobahn and its shit. the deck he has plays dvds, cds and mp3s but when you stick a cd in you have to wait for 40sec which is shit to me. audiobahn isnt in the game for performance just for show. dont go for show or what looks good. go w/ what sounds the best. i got powerbase subs, not a big name looks are alright but the sound is awesome ecspecially w/ the help of an alpine cdm-9823 and some pos radioshack 400w amp.
