Nobody has mentioned it yet, and since I was just leafing throught the alpine product catalogue, I thought I would mention that the alpine 9835 has the "amplifier link" thing. That means that you plug your amp into the head unit (obviously) and you can then control everything directly from the HU, like gain, bass boost, etc. Also, you can monitor the temperature of the amp and the voltage across it. I think thats pretty good motivation to stick with an alpine amp right there. (Even though its just a huge gimic, but a cool one none the less) (And they're purrrty)
Personally, I prefer running identical speakers in all four corners (or six). I just like having the exact same sound eminating from everywhere. I think it makes for a better sound stage. I was running different speakers in my car; I couldn't handle it, I had to change them to make then all identical.
