AGM on side?

Since AGMs have their electrolyte in mats, are they able to be placed onto their side, or must they be left on their bottom? I'm looking to add one, but I don't have a lot of room to work with so trying to figure out options.

As long as the mfgr states it's ok to mount in any position, I would go with whatever suits your needs . I have seen several build pics with batteries laying on its side.
