Well had that amp 4 2 weeks and 2day it just didn't sound right than i heard a fizz and started flaming out the top. I just put in a memphis line driver the other day went back and checked it and the ground wire fell out. ground it, tested and that's when it went up. It was still pounding when it was flaming but i shut it down and don't if it does still work or not. Highly doubt it. the fire was hard to get out but at this point i'm done with car audio i got a collection of burnt amps now. 1 step forward than 3 back. Any clue why this happened? Thanks

Change your signature....

The Rockford 4K is known to randomly self destruct. Possibly the same design flaw in the 2K, though I've never heard of the smaller ones failing.

gain knob as set to max with an unnecessary line driver.

learn how to set the gain knob before you toast another amp and ditch the line driver it is unneeded and is prolly what actually caused the clipping that caused the excessive current draw that in turn caused the amp to get hot enough to set the board on fire. not to mention those amps where garbage some of the worst rockfords made straight power hogs

for that one 2k you prolly need 250amps of extra current just to run it without problems

Straight up...POS

It wasn't clipping, It wasn't even hitting as hard as i have pushed it to. My gain is a little over half. I was running it around 1 ohm. I try to get a reading but it fluctuates so much i can't get a true reading. They are all d4 wired up. Answer me this, What the F is protection on an amp if it don't protect a dam thing? I think protect would be oh it's to much signal and clipping let me shut down, No mine is still hitting while fire's pouring out the POS! It didn't shut down, turned it off who knows might still work? Ha!

200amp alt Kinetic hc2400 plus big *** marine style up front, big 3. Which is more than should be needed for this amp.

With the line driver or before?

When you tried getting that reading was it with the amp on or off? Should be done with it off and if it was off and fluctutates all over then somethings wrong with your subs. For eight dual 4s to be wired to one ohm you would need to wire each sub itself in series then parallel all of them. If you are wired below one ohm, that amp won't like it too much.

And if you think it's a pos, don't use it...

it has to be the series man.. i had a t500-2, and it put out power, but one day when i re hooked up 3 amps to the same battery, 2 aq1200ds and the t500-2, it randomly went up in smoke while the other amps continued fine. I remember reading something about problems with the caps and ground connections. I wouldnt blame yourself, but take that line driver off.
