Ok my car dosen't have a built in antenna and when i installed my aftermarket headunit i put a aftermarket antenna in with it, and i can barley get any radio stations. The antenna is attached to the back of the headunit inside my dashboard. I called my car audio shop and they didn't know anyother options i could try out. So i'm hopeing some of you guys could help me. Any suggestions are greatly apprciated. Thanks a lot for looking =]

Antennas follow a simple rule - the uglier they are, the better they tend to work. They also need to be placed up as high as possible, as FM radio works by line of sight - being hidden away in your dash is about as effective as not having one at all.

Do you listen to very distant stations? Are you comfortable drilling a hole to mount something?

Uhm, yes i listen to some far stations. The only one that comes in is one that is very close to me, but if i go in a regualr car all the stations sound fine. But i would be willing to mount an antenna somewhere. Would i have to mount it ooutside of the car > Or what do you suggest, and what antenna do you suggest?

Actually is there a small antenna you can mount in a corner of your windshiled? Like tippy top like an XM receiever?
