how do u cu them to length. they are 2 flared ends and a pvc style pipe. when it says 12 inch port, do u just cut the pvc style pipe at 12 inches? or is it from flare end, to flare end?

The directions will tell you in the port box.

 

But from my memory, and don't hold me to it, but I think if you need a 12" port, you need to cut the PVC between the flared ends to 9" and then the flares make up ther rest of it.

 

So in other words, cut it 3" shorter.

 

Just from what I remember. Haven't used one in many a year.

i know yall hate these questions, but im starting out with 5.2 cubes, with woofer displacement, it is 5.06. Now do u figure port with or without woofer displacement? im thinkin the port is supposed t be like 15 inches. thats 2 4 inch aero ports, for two type r's in 5.2 cubes before ANY displacement. as i said .14 cu. ft. is the displacement for both woofers together......am i right in sayin ~15 inches is correct?

you using aeroports or precision ports? precision ports say the length is not counting the flared parts.

well its a "precision port" by name, but aero port style.....u know two flared ends. so if i go into bbp6 and i put 2 flared ends, and it says "12.67 inches" for the port length.....whats it talkin about? im thinking WITH ports.

dont worry about the flare accounting for tuning..just plug in the total legnth as a 4" port

i disagree really....to be honest. because ive heard that a flare takes something like ~.5 inches off the total length. someone correct me if im wrong here.

youre mis-understanding me..dont account the flare into the volume/tuning equation. if it calls for 12"s of port after calculating legnth w/ the normal 4" roundport cut the tube to add up with the 2 flares legnth to equal 12"s.
