aero port question

oh dang. your rite next to me. wait are you peter? lol.

ok so psp agrees with bcae1.com. so if the box is only 28" and the port needs to be 30" then i need to have part of the port external rite?

Im not peter. sorry to get your hopes up. but you dont need the port to be external. Get a 90 degree angle from like OSH and have the port turn inside the box. it will look a lot more cleaner. hope that helps

P.S. do you go to State?

you are still bending the port 90 degrees. i just don't like bending aero's. you can if you want.
what are the effects of bending the port? I saw tcguy use a 90 degree angle and he is happy with it, so i thought it would be useful for the op

im curious on why not to bend it now too. i mean i dont like the idea either but i guess it would be the same as bending a slot port rite?

i dont go to state yet. i talked to a guy, peter, that goes to state but i dont remember his user name, thats why i asked.

Putting a bend in a slot port or a circular port is all the same. Either way there is going to be some turbulence in both situations. Atleast the aero ports have flared ends which cut down some of the turbulence. So I'd say use the 90* bend. Looks alot nicer than huge semi truck horns sticking out of your box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

you need 12-16 square inches of port space per cubic foot inside the box rite? four 4 inch ports puts me just over 12" per cubic foot.

i think im going to go 4cuft. ill only have an inch or 2 between the end of the port and the back of the box so im going to poke them out the front of the box an inch or 2 and try some fiberglass to make it look good. been wanting to try to use fiberglass anyway. it looks good in my head. we'll see how it turns out.

Precision ports don't work with the 12-16 square inches rule.

If you put four 4 inch precision ports on those SX's they will not last long. At most you will only need three ports for those subs.

Also, you need atleast the diameter of the port away from the end of the port. Meaning you need 4 inches from the end of the ports.
