Advise on conservative subwoofer

ok, so where does one start if son wants a subwoofer and dad doesn't want him rolling down the street vibrating everything in sight.... need some education of smaller sound, what to look for in amp, sub size, rms--enough to ad some decent base to the deck, but not overboard.

A single ten would work, 400wattsrms would be loud enough. Look for something in that range sub to match amp. You dont want to go to cheap brands either, spend a little and you'll get more out of it.

Dont buy him any equipment. Let him buy his own. If he starts to get into it, let him buy whatever equipment he wants. Theres alot more to it than rattling windows. If this is what he is into, encourage him. It will mke him work hard to save up for new equipment.
