advantadges/disadvantages to inverterted sub loading

i was wondering if anyone knew if ther were any advantages to loading the subs in the box backwards. i have a sealed box for three tens, and thought it would look cool if put them on backwards. anything wrong with this? advice?

nothing wrong with it...just take into effect that you now have a larger enclosure, the sub's displacement is no longer a factor. Other than that, nothing's different.

Now, if you have them set up normal and one or two inverted, you need to reverse the phase on the ones that are inverted...

It wont increase SQ unless the sub operates better in the slightly larger box in now has when inverted. SPL will not go down audibly, sure there is ever so slightly less cone area do to the motor assembly but you shouldnt hear it.

You heard wrong. If anything, the SQ goes down a bit as there is more chance for motor noise. But, as was said above about changing the enclosure volume, this means SQ could be positively or negatively affected. Most likely, either way you wouldn't hear the diff anyway.

well, if you need an extra .1 or .2 cubes, and your box cant go over the rear seat (SPL- or prefrence) invert the driver, and you gain a bit of room, and get to look at the purdy motor.

really no audible difference, basically looks.

if ur sub is inside ur cabin, u might hear mechanical nois.

but if its in the trunk, u will never notice.

they actually arent audiobahn, but 3 ten inch JL w3v2. i know the basket isnt as asthetically pleasing as others, but i think it would look cool nontheless. i built the box myself, and each chamber is about 0.75 cubic feet. oh yeah, my car's an suv, so its open cabin. any other suggestions with this information?

dub3's are so pinnered but whatever pleases you. i personally wouldnt invert anything with a puny mag
