Adire 4 ohm & Dayton 8 ohm

Hello,

I am currently looking to purchase Adire Koda 4 ohm mids. I also was also looking at the Dayton Audio Reference 8 ohm mids. Will there be a significant difference between both speakers? Im would give the Adire mids 75 watts @ 4 oms while the Daytons would be given 37.5 watts @ 8 ohms.

Which is a better speaker overall?

never heard neither speaker myself but i've heard great reviews on the dayton rs series. in the diy scene the dayton rs is known as the best bang for the buck speaker as you can get a pair for like $60 at partexpress.com. i think this is a good article for you to read about 8 ohm drivers. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31

also if you can wait a bit dayton is supposed to come out with the car version of the dayton rs speakers in which the car audio version has no shield and is 4 ohms.

What size will you be getting?

the Dayton's midrange cannot be beat for the price, unless you need your midrange to extend higher than 2.0khz @ 12db.

I am thinking about getting the 7" Daytons. I will have LPG tweeters playing 2.5 khz and up. I am running active, what frequencies/slopes do you suggest?

Also, will the Daytons be ok with 37.5 wrms? Would the Kodas get louder?

haha i think i just wrote the same thing in your other thread in the general discussion.

anyways 37.5 watts should be perfect for the daytons. rms for those are 60 watts and from specs they are efficient drivers.

you have the lpg 25nfa? if so i suggest bumping up the xover pt a lil to 3khz or so. lpg's in general don't play too well down at 2.5khz. but some people run it that low and it works for them whatever. i have my lpg's crossed at 3.15khz @ 24db/oct.

i had about that much power on my daytons 6". They got loud enough, but they wont be as loud as the koda.
