Adding Sub to stock system

I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring LXi with the infinity sound package. I replaced the stock head unit with a Kenwood one and now I'm looking to add a little extra bass to my system. I have a small budget (roughly $300) so this is what I've been able to pick out so far. I'm still looking for a cheap 10" enclosure and I'll probably buy 8gauge wires.

Amp:

Alpine MRP-M500 Mono subwoofer amplifier — 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

Sub:

Polk Audio DXi 104 DXi Series 10" 4-ohm subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

The amp that am going to be buying will be running 300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms and the sub's power range is 50-270 watts RMS, is this a problem? Also since I haven't replaced any of the car speakers will adding a sub overpower my system and make it sound bad? Also if there are cheaper/better alternatives to the items above let me know.

Thanks!
