Adding second amp for speakers, RCAs or line level input to amp?

I am new to this very informative forum.

I currently have the following super budget setup until I can afford something better this summer:

All of this is in my 2002 Mazda Protege:

XO Vision XD104BT head unit ($15 from Walmart)

Scoche KPA5D 6 gauge wiring kit

Polk 12" DXI124 single voice coil sub ($17 on craigs list)

Metra 12" ported enclosure from BestBuy ($59)

Dual XPR522 600 Watt amp running bridged mono to the sub

Scoche HD6904 6"x9" pair in rear (paid $25 for pair at Walmart on sale)

6"x8" in front not sure what speakers didn't open it up yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It sounds OK... better than stock which is all I wanted.

Long story short, I got a Dual 800watt 4 channel amp for $25 on Letgo, I would like to power the 6x9s and get new 6x8s for the front. Right now the head unit has the RCA signal output going to the sub amp. Can I use the line level (speaker level output?) converter that taps into the stock speaker wires and use the four speaker outs (front L/R, rear L/R) from the head unit into the new dual 800watt amp in tandem with the RCA signal that is currently going to the sub amp? I know what to do as far as power, ground, remote turn on wires, etc. but I am trying to go the cheapest route for now until I can spend real money on a good system this summer. I guess my concern is that 1. Will the head unit send both signals if they are active and 2. Will this somehow overpower the POS head unit

I am assuming the second option would be to Y split the RCA channel into 2 RCA channels (two sets of L/R) and put those signals into the amp and get something like a schoche LOC2SL line level converter with sub remote control to send signal to the sub.

Any help would be appreciated, I searched high and low and did not see anyone with a similar setup.

The LOC would be ok, but that would be quite a bit of wiring hassle and all it would get you is the ability to fade from your front speakers to your rear speakers/sub.

At this point, especially since you have plans to upgrade the HU soon, I'd just use y-cables on your existing rca outputs.
