Hi guys,
I have a Volkswagen T2 bus from 78. I recently installed the following setup:
Sony XS-HT170SN (2x tweeter on dash + 2x woofer in door panels)
Sony XS-F6941R (2x 4-way speaker in the back)
Sony CDX-GT610U Headunit
JBL GT5-A604 4 Channel Full-Range Amplifier
The sound in the front of the car is pretty good but the 4-way speakers in the back hardly put out any bass. Overall the entire system could use a sub. I want to add a JBL GTO804 (8" inch sub, space is at a premium) in the back of the car.
Now, I actually don't like to spend more dough on buying a sub amp. Since the 4-way speakers don't produce that much sound I'd like to wire these to the head unit's internal amp. This will free up two channels on the JBL amp and I'd like to bridge these to the sub. Do you think this will provide the sub with enough power? (the amp is 60W rms per channel and the sub can handle 200W rms) I'm planning on installing the sub in a ported enclosure.
So basically my question is; will this work with good results? Or should I really get a separate more powerful amp for the sub?
