add on tweeters

im looking to add tweeters to my existing setup, and not sure what to buy. Boston acoustics makes imaging tweeters, but im looking for other companies that sell tweeters with crossovers. woofersetc sells image dynamics tweets but i dont think they include a crossover. do i need a crossover since they will be hooked up to an aftermarket amp?

I have some jbl gto tweeters that came with crossovers that work great as imaging tweeters. Your going to want a crossover if your not running active. CDT makes an imaging setup as well.

it would be better yes, ba makes some so does mb quart and a few others basically all you really need is to make sure the low freqs aren't going to the tweet and you should be ok

im adding these to my front end which consists of 6.5inch 4 ohm coaxials. im tapping in to the coaxials with the tweeters so will that make my amp see a 2 ohm load if the tweeters are 4ohm?

If you wire them parallel your amp will see a 2 ohm load, if you wire them in series your amp will see an 8 ohm load.

I used to just have 6 1/2 3 way eclipse coaxials and I added the jbl tweeters and I noticed a huge difference.

my car is a lease, so im not doing anything major. some add on tweeters are 8 ohm, some are 4 ohm. not sure which would be better as an add on due to combining them with 4 ohm coaxials

try to get 4 ohm to initially see a 2 ohm load in parallel. What coaxials do you have?

just about any car audio add on tweeter you see come with a little in line crossover, or atleast the have a capacitor which is a 6d roll off, you should be fine either way

the arc audio tweets are cheap on woofersetc. they are 25 watts rms, but 50 watts music power handling? so is that 50 rms with music?

well how much are you looking to spend. You should be happy with those jbls but you could also get some mb quarts

do a set of comps and velcro the tweeter housings in place. Seems like much less hassle and probably better sound...
