adapter question?

I am considering installing a Pioneer DEH-4400HD in a 2006 buick Lacrosse. It has a stock stereo cd player. I had someone tell me you can purchase an adapter to plug between the modular plug coming from the head and the modular plug on the wiring from the car that would keep you from having to splice any wires. Is this true? this car doesn't have on-star.

I also have to get an In-dash Receiver Kit.

The wiring harness he's probably taking about will keep you from splicing into your factory wiring, but you're still going to want crimp caps or bullet connectors to link the aftermarket wiring harness and the HU harness to each other. Some companies online will make their own that includes both, but they charge a hefty premium for it. Honestly, as long as you're not colorblind, it's easy.

Just keep in mind crutchfield will charge full retail on then HUs, but the warranty coverage, customer service, and fact you get the dash kit/wiring harness AND mastersheet instructions for free kinda makes up for it.
