Active??

Looking at getting a new head unit and have been spending some time here. I see you guys mention the word "active" alot in regard to head units and I was wondering what that means.

Could you point to where I could learn about this or give me a brief explanation of what it is?

It said in the article that it takes a lot of time to get an active crossover set up to where your happy with it? Usually how long would this take assuming you know what your doing?

i dont think theres a set time associated with it, it just takes fine tuning. It might sound very good after a few days of playing with it, but I'd probably always be fine tuning

Lol seriously. It just comes with listening to different kinds of music. All types. Jazz, rap, rock, acapella/vocals, instrumentals etc. I can admit that I haven't tweaked my EQ or crossovers in almost 4 months now. I think I have reached that sweet spot with my system. I know it isn't NEAR being the best, but I'm content for now. Funny I say that, I'm going to pick up some new subs tomorrow hahahaha. I'm really itching to try new tweeters though. I think I want to try out those TBI HDSS tweeters. I've had my eye on them since they came out. That and I really really really need to finish my sound deadening and wiring upgrades. I'm fine staying 3-way active for now. I just wish my 9835 had better iPod controls, but I can make do. See?
