Active X-Over

Alright i got my replacement CD player, same one in my sig. I figured this time i would set up the Active X-Over in the CD player. Alpine Tech Support told me to turn off my X-Overs in my amps, is this right? Also the Alpine has 2 types of Crossovers 2-way and 3-way. I think that i want to use the 3-Way setup. The 3-way setup has.....Low>Mid Low>Mid High>High.......Low can be crossed any where from 20hertz to 200 hertz, midL 20hertz to 200Hertz, MidH is from 20 Hertz to 20Khz, and High is from 1Khz to 20 Khz. Is the 3 way setup the right setup for me? and if so what Frequency should i cross each band at?

yes, get your amplifier crossovers set at Full Pass (or OFF depending of the amplifier) so that it let pass everything

you will require a 4 channels amplifier for the stereo... set the deck to 3-way mode and connect the front pre-out jacks (high frequencys-tweeters) to the channels 1 and 2 of the amplifier, the rear pre-out jacks (mid-low,mid-high frequencys-midbass or woofer) to the 3rd and the 4th channels of the amplifier... run the subwoofer pre-outs to another amplifier you use for teh subwoofer or if you're using a 5 or 6 channel amplifier just connect both pre-outs to the 5th and the 6th channels respectivelly

you can use the amplified audio outs of the head units the same way without an amplifier i think (in case you're not running an amplifier for the stereo)

i have my X-Over set as

LOW= +0db, -12db/octave slope and 63hz

Mid-Low= +0db, -12db/octave slope and 40hz (i think i will increase this frequency later im just waiting my sub box to be finished, im getting too much HMMMMMMMM on my stereo)

Mid-High= +0db, -12db/octave slope and 10k (it may be too high for your speakers, but mine are kinda crappy lol, so thats the way it sounds better)

High= -3db, -12db/octave slope and 4k

one thing i noticed when i migrated from passive xover to active xover of my alpine is the sound has much more definition and sound more clear but i now find impossible to turn on the MX function (which i used to find impossible not to have on) because the mid-highs sound "bitter" with it on... see if the same happens to you dude
