active setup questions....

Im considering doing an active setup, and wanted to get a few things cleared up. Basically, the primary reason for going active is to allow yourself more control over the sound stage, correct?

Do you need a stand alone crossover if youre amp has high end crossovers on it? The amp I would be using is a Phoenix Gold 100.4. It has been mentioned to me that the amp would need to be bandpassable, which the manual says it is, by turning both crossovers on. So far for my front stage, I have the Xenon and a pair of CDT ef61cf mids.

Deck to be used is an Alpine 9831.

So, to run an active setup, all Im missing is a set of tweets, correct?

I realize it is harder to set up an active front stage, as compared to using a standard comp set, so to those of you who have done it, is it worth it?

Noah says yes, trust me, he turned the MT off today and turned the HP on the mids down. Said if he didn't have a sub, he wouldn't really care. And it sounds quite clean too might I add.

You have my address, Ill be waiting for all of his subs to arrive to me. Tell him thanks, Ill buy him a beer.

Sounds like a plan, then. Time to put a for sale thread on the crossovers.
