active crossover...

2way as in 2way front + sub? If that's the case then there's the Kicker KX3, Memphis XO3, and Coustic XM6. I believe those are the model number
no 2 way as in mids and highs for the front stage... i may add another speaker in between the mid and tweet in the future, could i get one to do that, but run 2 way until then, (not use one of the channels?) idk if that made sense or not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

mids and highs is what i'm talking about, it's 2way front+substage. If you're going active then you cannot just add a speaker in the middle (the midrange) of the tweet and mid. If you do so then you have to use a different xover that can do 3way front +sub active.

hmmm... i'm guessing that you run active? what would you suggest for a front stage, 2 way or 3 way? i'm trying to learn about this right now and i'm ready to do it to hear what the hype is all about... i'm thinking 2 way front stage + sub...

yea i run active, it just makes it easier to get the sound you want out of it. Do a 2way right now to get the gist of it. You can upgrade and go 3way later on.

If your HU is active capable, why not get a 4 channel amp? I realize the crossover might be cheaper, but I don't understand how you can do it with just a 2 channel amp.
You can't do it with only 2ch. I hope that's not what the OP wants to do

so i know you already listed some crossovers, what do you think about arc audio gear? what do i look for in a good crossover, and thanks for the help man!

never used arc, but they solid stuff from what everyone says. If you've got the cash then go for it.

As far as looking into a crossover you should just look for the crossover points available. What's the highest you highpass and lowpass a mid and lowest you can highpass a tweeter? Also look at the slope and if they're switchable, so that you can go wiht 6db/oct, or 12db/oct, etc...

o.k. thanks man, i'm still a little confused on the db/oct thing, rolloff's, and slopes, but i'll keep reading... i think i got the highpass/lowpass thing figured out...

slope is basically how much a frequency gets cut.

Let's say you want to highpass a tweeter at 5khz. If you have a 12db/oct slope, then at the next lower octave (2.5khz) the output will be cut by 12db. If you were to use a 24db/oct slope then the next lower octave will be cut by 24db. So a 24db slope will be higher than a 12db slope. Hope that makes sense

ohhhh... o.k. that makes perfect sense, so would i want a higher db/oct? my guess is yes...
