? about using a scope

I have that scope.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

When setting your gains with it, leave all speakers unhooked.
how do you like the hps10

we use these on my ship. i dont recommend you get one cuz they are like 15000 dollars but its a nice idea. i wonder what someone would say if i borrowed it for my stereo. i have my own but its nowhere near as nice.

this is one that I bought from teh ship when we got the new tektronix ones. works good. im just not a fan of digital o scopes. id like to find an oldschool analog tektronix

I have a tek-2430A, I like the digital since it will give me a digital measurment out instead of having to cound the blocks and whatnot.

I also got mine through work. (paid a whole $0.25/lb for 3 of em).

That 190 looks pretty sweet. I've got an old analog scope sittin' in my closet if you wanna trade? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Dont you need to put a load on the amp to get it to clip? I know it would clip eventually, but I would think you'd need to get a load on it to get a good indication of when clipping occurs.

while most of this makes no sense (the oscope should have a very high input impedance and not really draw any power at all).

i did a proof of concept test on my (hopefully) upcoming gain setting tool. i am very suprised at just how well it did despite being so simple (i tested the simplist version i could think of). and there are many improvements that could increase resolution and fix some of the nuances that currently exist. in anycase, in the POC test, it came out to work about as well as an OSCOPE. obviously since i tested it with an scope, well, it couldn't have been better then the scope.

loading the amp can do interesting things. the most accurate testing would be from an amp with the speaker as a load. an internal sensor would be preferable.

Exactly. and once you get alot of current flowing through there it'll change quite a bit.

I picked up some power resistors from work (found in a scrap pan //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) Which I used to determine the real power output of my amp.
