Yea...for your effective port length with your 3.5x19.5 port, I got alittle over 40"....I"ll post a pic real quick...

port can be bigger than 3.5" if necessary, and with a box width of 20.5" wont the vent be 19" wide?

Yea, I goofed on typing...too many .5, .75, and whatnot...its 3.5x19

More port area only increases port length while holding Vb constant...it'll be fine the way it is...the ONLY thing I might worry about is clearance...you have 12" from top of Port Wall 1 to the bottom of the top piece...But A.) The type-r have side vents on the motor structure and B.) The type-r's are no where near 12" deep...

What would need to change to get down to one port wall? increased volume? im kinda leary about a second port wall?

More volume...with 4ft^3 net, port length is 34.5"...
