? about mdf

iM NOT READING THROUGH ALL 7 PAGES(sry caps) but all you need is Spax screws for MDF. you do not need to predrill anything, and just screw it in and done. they also run in the MDF flush everytime. The screw does it all.

You always have to predrill if you're going to screw something into MDF...not doing so (even just a little) is just asking for the MDF to split. Also, no screw is going to mount flush enough for my tastes...I actually like the screw head to be about 1/8" lower than the MDF so I don't injure myself or my truck when installing/moving the box around.

i dont use nails or anything other than clue. heres what i do.

i bought those pony 90 degree clamps. i clamp one end on one board, then line up the other piece on the other side of the clamp so that the edge of the twoo meet flush. i dont tighten that side down, put glue on the clamped down piece then lower the 2nd board on it using the pony clamps. once it aligned right (always is using my way) i attach 4 bar clamps and remove the ponys.

tada perfect 90degree board tight and clamped already to go.

Let it dry

I say good day to all you screw users.

Mike-

Initially, that was my though as well, but I looked at those screws, and they are made to use in MDF without predrilling. So until I would use them, I really cant say if they will split the wood or not.

The only bad thing with doing it like this, is it takes a lot longer. You have to clap up pieces at a time, wait for the glue to cure, then do it again. It does make for a nice finish, especially if leaving it bare though.

no.. no predrilling at ALL. i actully drilled 5 or 6 in the side of a piece of MDF when i bought then becasue I thought there claim was BS. sure as shit I drilled the WHOLE crew in their, and the screw actully went about 1/4 inch in the wood, the only thing that split the wood was that the phillips bit that I was useing.

Trust me try these screws, you will not bew disapointed.

No pre drilling AT ALL

If wanted you can make the screw go as much or as little into the wood as you would like.
