Here is the deal. I turned on my wifi at the shop today and it came up with 2 unsecured high speed internet networks. I connected to both with no problems then disconnected. If i connect to them can they tell if i am on them or have been on them? And can they also tell if i am on this page?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif That would be sick if i can get on this page at the shop also.

with any decent firewall, nobody can just crash your computer, without a back door. You'd be fine piggybacking an unsecured network, just don't send any personal info on it, in case they are monitoring it. Spider Monkey, I'd like to see you try to crash my comp while on your unsecured network. What exactly would you try to do??

I think it was a figure of speech? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

OP just make sure you lock your shit down and run a firewall. Also name your computer something weird that can't be linked to you. If your name is James Smith don't name your computer something like 'JSMITH' so something totally odd like 'Doibs08bLDB' that way if they find you they can't confront you.

Yes, they can tell when you're connected to their network.Yes, they can tell if you've connected to their network in the past.

Yes, they can tell what page you're on.

Yes, you can get charged with theft of service for using someone's unsecured network without their permission.

Just to answer your question, Yes they can see any computer that is currently on their network. The wireless router logs your MAC address. However, when you disconnect, that log also disappears. Unless there is someone monitoring that router 24/7, there is no way to tell you are on it. That being said, don't get caught.
