? about Hifonics BXi 1206D

im looking to buy that amp but am slightly confused. i have not bought an amp in a long time and am looking for some clarity on this one. it says its a 2400 w amp...

now on the specs it says like 1200 w @ 1 ohm x 1 .....

now, does this mean that theres is like 2 outputs, and each puts out 1200 or there is one output putting out 1200 that has to be shared between both of my subs?

no its a 1200 watt rms amp and 2400 is probobly the amout of max watts which means nothing........Either that or 2400 is a typo but the amp is definitly 1200 watts rms at 1 ohm

so the 1200 would be shared between my 2 subs? or does it have 2 outputs which puts 1200 to each sub? sorry for the nub questions

you'll be sharing the 1200 watts betwee your two subs

yea so if you have 2 subs 600 watts rms each (maybe) or 3 400 watts rms each (maybe) but all of this is at 1 ohm.......if u have the subs wired up 2 2ohms or 4ohms the subs will be seeing a substantially lower amount of watts

ok thanks, they are wired to 1 ohm at the moment, was just unsure of how the power outage worked on that amp. do you guys think that this is a good amp for the money?

RFP4212 dual 4 ohm voice coil that i have wired to 1 ohm, 800 watts peak, 400 rms it says on back sticker

aight how many subs do u have......and how can you be so sure that it is wired exactly to 1 ohm

i have 2 and am not exactly sure its wired to 1 ohm, just followed the diagrams that show how to wire a DVC sub to 1 ohm

well yeah u can wire them 2 1ohm.....my bad

But you should be ok with the hifonics 1206....Im pleased with my 1205D

thanks for the reassurance man, guess i will get it with 600 watts to each sub, more then old amp but i can run 1200 to the next sub i buy which is undecided gives me some flexability

not sure, but hifonics amps are usually slightly overrated. I've never testet/used the 2006 lineup though.
