ABC box

So, I'm buying a 15" Ava tomorrow, and it comes with a ABC type box. I was wondering would a regualr ported or ABC box be louder? If the ABC box is basically 2 ported boxes together, could i jsut cut off the smaller size and then glue another baffle over that side? Ill get the measurements tomorrow, so i could get the size and tuning.

ABC enclosures will be just as loud as a regular ported enclosure built with the same specs. The will be more cone control though and thus less distortion.

In my experience, the ABC enclosure sounded better but not louder than it's ported counterpart. It had a smoother response curve but lacked a little in transient response. They are a little bigger because of the extra ports but they work out decently.

If you already have it, you might as well try it and see if you like it.
