A question aboout power, please help?

Well thanks , I know you guys would always treat me with respect as I try to do the same for you. Speaking of power I have a question of my own. Right now I have 2 alpine Type Rs in a sealed box running of a Rocford 1000 wat amp and I have the 6.5" type r component set in the front and type s 5.25" coax in the back running of an eclipse amp, I forgot which one though. Anyway at high volumes the speakers would distort so I took back to the audio place were I got it installed and he said that he turned the gains almost all the way down so now I can crank it up and they sound great. My quesiton is, if it is almost max can my subs take it? Also you can set the subwoofer and bass controls in my HU , alpine 9847 and the guy told me to keep the bass real low, like -7 because that was another reason why my speakers were distorting but what should the subwoofer control be at? Also I have the bass know which I can change the HZ and dB, which should those be at?

hahaha 12 sonys 8 amps. this is a funy thread if this real thats cool. but i really am having trouble beleaving this, unless your friends just some rich kid on sonys nuts.if you are that rich kid GET A JOB U BUMB AND QUIT LIVING OFF YOUR PARENTS

Problem is I dont have that stuff to test it or know where to get it. I was just wondering if you guys had any suggests for the bass know and HU controls for the subwoofer with the gains for the speakers are low.

2 things

1)with the guy with the distorting alpines theres no reason to set the sub at -7, subs should not be distorting at -7, what he might mean is the 5.25 coaxils you have in the rear might distort when the bass in the trunk hits and pushes the coaxials IF there in the deck so he lowers the volume, this happened to me and use to ruin the sound, buy foam bafles to cover them

2)to the guy with the 12 sonys and 8 PERFORMANCE TECHNIQUE why the hell could you not have gone with 2 1500 mono REAL amps? insted of some garbage swapmeet amps and garbase subs?

Oki over on TP uses them and is uber loud

It wasnt the sub he turned down to -7 it was the bass.

It seems like your speakers might be distorting due to bass tones being played through them. You need to get yourself a couple crossovers to make sure that they receive the correct frequencies. You could even get some bass blockers if you wanna go cheap...

Edit? What the hell is "bass standards"? Did you Mr. CEO of sony forget that you also have your brand name on Head units, speakers and disc changers?

You would also think.. When you reveil yourself.. you might use a spell checker.
