A project, for one of my best friends.

I got a phone call from my mother this morning, and I answer the phone to hear her balling. Scared the shit out of me because she has my daughter while I'm down in Texas. She tells me that my uncle passed away. Hit me really hard, he was one of my best friends. He passed away sometime between last night, and this morning. I'm going to be doing a project car for him, 'cause he always liked my stereos, and always knew when I was coming over. The car will probably be my current daily driver, once my girlfriend and I choose a new vehicle, it's a 1996 Mercury Mystaque. I'm going to do 8 8" subs, or 2 18's walled and roughly 3000-4000WRMS. I'm hoping to have it completed by the anniversary of his passing, so within a year. I want to be able to reveal it to my family when we have our get together. This is going to be a loud car, but mainly a build for the 'Wow' factor, since my uncle amazed many people. I'll most likely use MA Audio MA-800XL subs, since they have a 'rated' continuous power handling of 400WRMS. Those are also fairly cheap, and would only cost about $500. Haven't looked at 18's, since it just came to mind. Amp(s) will not be decided, until I know for a fact what I am going with, and how much room I have. If necessary I will remove the seats, and build a wall into the trunk. For the head unit I will probably keep my Sony CDX-F7710 if it survives that long. Mids/Highs will be Hypnotic Zen 6.5's, possibly 2 sets (depending on price). If they aren't loud enough to keep up with the substage, I will probably get 2 sets of RSDs. if I can find a dealer that will ship them to me. I've got a year to complete this, so hopefully I can actually afford the plan, and stick to it.

This is not some start of a fucking scam, so don't start any of that bullshit. I'm not trying to get donations. I'm just telling you all what I want to do, and I needed some 'venting time.'

sorry bout your loss, I'd probably do the same project your doing for my dad but my dad hated my little thing with spending money on cars lol

Thanks all! I've got some progress on this project. I got a vehicle donated for it, it's a first gen. 2-Door Chevy S-10 Blazer. It was actually my uncles, and when he passed it got transferred to my dad. My dad thought my idea was cool, so he's getting in on it too. His main job will be building the box, and amp racks, since he's a carpenter, and good with cutting/building. He'll also be helping the whole time, ripping out the interior, and helping me get some new sheet metal welded on. The truck is a rust bucket, but I think my grandparents will help me get quite a bit done. I haven't fully decided on anything yet for this, since space has changed, but I think I may still stick with 8 8" woofers.

Yeah man, i'm sure your uncle is gonna love this, just because hes not actually here to see it.. he can still see what your doing... sorry to hear about your uncle.. good luck on build

I'll have pictures of the tuck when I get back from Texas. I have to look it over when I get back so I can estimate the amount of body work/interior work is going to cost.

Well, I guess it's about time I update this. Good news, and bad news. Good news is, my mother and father are goin' to help by buying whichever amp I choose. Bad news, the Blazer got transferred to my father when my uncle passed. My uncle had been letting some friends use it, until they fixed their own car. Lady bicth was driving it, she was drinking, and pulled out in front of a 1 ton dually, doin' about 45mph. Completely totaled the Blazer. It's supposedly going into the shop, to have $4,000 worth of work done to it. Yes, we all know the Blazer isn't worth that much. It does carry sentimental value to my family though, so it will be repaired to 100%. Only thing is, it won't be done for quite a while, lady bicth is going to jail for her 3rd offense, so not sure if she gets out. She does have to pay for all repairs (court ordered), but making about $0.40 a day isn't going to make it happen quickly. Her husband is still around, so we're going after him to pay. Funniest part is, her car was only going to cost $100 to fix, and that's with parts and labor. I told her I would fix it, 2 days before the wreck happened, told her I would do it for free, as long as she bought the parts, just so I could have the truck safe. She said she would rather wait. Dumb bicth gets to pay for all the work now, plus the work I was going to have to pay for. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif I haven't seen the damage yet, but I'll have my mother take some pictures of it, and send them to me. Good so far, but chances of me getting this done by 8/22/09 are slim to none. I may use something that most people wouldn't expect to see a loud stereo in.
