a pretty simple question

i have one 10" mtx 5500 (300wrms) sitting in the closet. i was wondering would having two of the mtx's at 300w a piece be louder than having one 10" sub at 600 rms. in both cases the subs would each be in 1 cu ft sealed boxes

You would have to double the excursion of the single sub getting 600rms for it to be noticeably louder than having two of them. My bet would be that the sub would not have much more excursion left in it to make it louder than having two of them getting a decent amount of power. Increasing power is a very inefficient way of making something louder.
