A picture for you...

I'd like to see something custom, but that would drive the costs up... I like the Extremis/XXX/AA Poly type bastets, the dayton RS are decent too.
Well this basket is custom -- none are available standard that allow for enough clearance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif -- We could go with the same path the spokes take right now, have the first spoke be a pair of 2 that branches off into 3?

We pretty much need this style basket, a more traditional subwoofer basket scaled to 6.5" size, or like this except in 2 stages and the flat piece would have to be thicker:

Since the motor is rather small in diameter and there is so much xmax it is rather hard to make the basket both sexy and functional.

i think thats sexy
So the secret is 1/4" or 3/8" thick mounting flange and spokes and less of them instead of a ton of 1/8" spokes... Or what about a ton of 1/4" spokes? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

We could attach a giant aluminum heat sink to the motor structure and have the basket terminate into an aluminum plate above the sink at about the same diameter... Were talking about tacking on 10 lbs of weight here, extra cost and time for release... The same basket except bump it up a notch or 2 to 3/16ths or 1/4" thick spokes would likely be doable and that would make it look a little beefier...

Am I the only one who likes it with the spokes? The hex former and open spokes give it this really unique look. Like it was stripped down of excess weight and anything unproductive, kind of like that stuff NASA launches into space all the time. If you don't keep the basket, I want a custom pair with them!

Awesome! This is what I like to hear... We need a poll I guess...

well **** they look pretty nice, i really like that honeycomb former.

i am just worried about price now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Prices...

$130/EA for the deep mids (Omega preorder)

$72/EA for the shallow (Delta)

The Delta has a hair over 11mm of xmax... Not sure if we should rate it at 11.5 or 11...

It is a little less sensitive too... More info when we update the page...

It will be out before the Omega...

Edit:

With all the commenting going on elsewhere (50/50 split or so rly...) about how nice the basket looks -- unless there is a huge influx of people demanding thick spokes I think its going to stay as it is.

Supposed to let everyone know that the OMEGA (long excursion) 6.5 & components will not be availible online after the preorder. So unless you have a dealer in your area after the preorder these things will NOT be availible.
