Hi

I am interested in looking for another subwoofer, but something lightweight or the enclosure specs for it would be lightwieght. Im currently using a 12w6v2 with specs fit box and it weights approximately 50-70 pounds, too much for the hatchback of my integra (lag in acceleration)

I was so interested in this http://www.diymobileaudio.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=32&osCsid=b7927dba91dee699c2d05a786d2749e4

until i saw its twice the wieght of the 12w6.

Any suggestions on a lightweight sub or one that requires a smaller box? SQ and loudness (more SQ) are needed.

Thanks

how much can a 50lb box slow down a car weighing in the thousands? Its not a race car anyways...how much acceleration you need on the street? If its for racing...then why put a system in at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

The man speaks the truth! I think every 100 lbs = 1/10 sec.... so it isn't significant enough to take into consideration. My motto is, "I'd rather be stuck in traffic with 2 15"s than stuck in traffic with 800 horsepower." Besides subwoofers are removable, if you plan on hitting the track just take it out. It takes a mere 5 minutes and a little eblow greese.

no its not only that. My car loses ALOT of handling when theres something in the hatchback. I can be riding deep with 4 people and i still dont lose as much handling even when i put the sub in the back. New AA rated tires too/suspension. Acceleration wise, i would normally have to do 2500 rpm to get out of 1st gear while maintaining decent speed. With sub, 3000 rpm. I aint no car genious, but i know and anyone whos droven my car knows that with the sub in the hatchback = less acceleration and less handling.

You are blowing this WAY out of proportion.......seriously, a 60lb sub/box will not cause any noticable handling changes.......I promise you. I have been there and done that. I had a huge sub box in the hatch of my Honda Accord with 2 tens and an amp mounted to it......I couldnt tell the difference in power or handling with the box in or out........ I think ya just want a new sub. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

well... if the guy says there is difference than there is... I dont think he would be wasting time not saying the truth, me I remember with my old honda accord , dindt even had subs, just putted lot of stuff in the trunk at a moment, boy handling was a BIG difference....u feel all the back of the car going crazy! no control, body-rollllll!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif when I took off everything of the trunk(about 50lb), I could do turns at much higher speed!!

I feel you man

http://www.mpyreaudio.com/flash.htm

this is a new compagny... how they describe themselves seems exactly what YOU need;)

and good mid-bass speakers can help alot for some decent high freq. bass also...

and just add a light 15" in the hatchback

15pound 15", compagny is based on SQ reputation...decent price

or you could wait for Mpyre to update their site etc..

good luck man:D
